Romania 2019

The following are reports from SERVE team members that visited Romania in May 2019.

I was a late addition to this trip, but I am certainly glad I decided to return to the land of Romania. Having developed many close friendships with the girls and the members of Bethany church it was a joy to strengthen these bonds.  The Romanians young and old, have endured much over the past few decades but it does my heart good to see that god has not abandoned his people. My Prayer for Deborah House and the incredible work of MLI is that it will increase greatly and I long to return again at some point the future. Thank you, Phil, for the amazing work you do and the opportunities you give us to serve.  James Gailey.

This was my first ever mission trip, I didn’t know what to expect but I can truly say that I have been blessed by this experience. Seeing first-hand the work in Romania has made me realise there are many needs in the churches and Deborah House. I enjoyed all the fun and fellowship and friendships have been formed. I thank God for helping me overcome my fears about talking the young people about cyber bullying and raising awareness of Human Trafficking.  Anna Houston

This trip has been a great opportunity to present to young people the dangers of human trafficking, cyber bullying and the effects of social media. Witnessing to them through these topics on a bible reference. Personally, I really enjoyed the fellowship and craft workshops with the Deborah House. Although it was challenging due to the language barrier it was rewarding to see the girls engage with the craft and the joy it brought when they saw the outcome.  Janet McIfatrick

This was a fantastic trip with a mixture of young and old (me being the oldest!) We knew a sense of the Lord’s presence from the planning right through the trip and God willing we will keep experiencing the blessings A highlight for me was seeing the progress in the lives of the Deborah girls since last summer! It was wonderful to renew fellowship with old Romanian friends and meet new ones. There was a great spirt of unity and fellowship throughout the trip!  Heather Garett

After hearing about the work in Romania and Deborah House girls for many years, I always wanted to go and visit. I really enjoyed seeing the work firsthand. This has been an unforgettable experience.   A highlight for me was the many great conversations had with the Deborah girls and how God is working in their lives and the encouragement they were to me and the rest of our team.  Emma Wilkinson

The team was a time of blessing and fellowship. It was so good to spend time with our Romanian brothers and sisters and to work alongside them in both the Deborah House and the local schools. While we may have went out to encourage them they encouraged us and it has been a blessing to spend time in devotions together as a team.   Sharon Craig

I really enjoyed going back to Romania and visiting the girls at Deborah House and taking part in the workshops in the schools. It is so encouraging to meet and fellowship with Christians from other countries. It was amazing to hear how God has preserved the church through difficult times in the past.  Jerusha Greer
